So you are from Mobile, AL which has long history in disc golf. Who are some of your mentors?
Cameron: Everybody in Mobile, really. There are tons of great players. I guess Matt Orum
was my main mentor. Watching him throw and how he goes about every aspect of his game really helped me.
What is your home course?
Cameron: University of South Alabama, which is where I had been going to school.
So are you taking a break from college?
Cameron: Yes, for a little while. I wanted to take a break and tour for a little while. I want a little more time to think about which direction I really want to go.
Are you flying solo?
Right now I am traveling with Will Schusterick. We are headed back to Tennessee at the moment, then it’s on to the Southern National Championships in Mobile this weekend. Hopefully Hurricane Isaac won’t tear things up too bad.
What do you like most about Will and his game?
Cameron: He throws it a mile and with seemingly no effort at all. He is also just so humble. Will even caddied for me in the finals this weekend.
Now that you’ve been traveling some, what is your favorite course?
Cameron: Maple Hill is my new favorite. That place was awesome.
So what’s in the bag? What are your staples?
Do you want to give a shout out to any other sponsors?
Cameron: UB Disc Golf, The Journey Post, and Grip Equipment Bags.
In other weekend action, Paul McBeth
, Cory Sharp
, and Cary Trotter
went 1-2-3 at the Monster Energy Challenge. Both Cory and Paul recorded tournament aces this weekend but Paul's was the longest tournament ace of his career at 570'! Philo Brathwaite
and Micah Dorius
finished 1-2 at the Sun Valley Open, Terry Gallops
won the Gate City Throwdown, and Mike Moser
won the Scarboro Scorcher. Paul Ulibarri
and Des Reading
also picked up second place finishes at the Great Lakes Open.
