5 Years Later Worlds Returns to Smuggs’

The 2023 PDGA World Championships begins in less than one week! Nearly 300 top athletes will be competing for the highest honor in our sport at one of the players’ and spectators’ most beloved venues, Smugglers’ Notch Resort. The main competition will run from Wednesday, August 30 to Sunday, September 3 in Jeffersonville, Vermont. The best way to watch the event is, of course, to buy a spectator pass and go in-person. If you can’t make the trip, be sure to tune in to the Disc Golf Network for live coverage each day.

Largest Ever PDGA Worlds Payout

The 2023 PDGA Worlds will feature the largest payout in PDGA history with a projected purse of at least $275,000. That impressive number is in large part due to this year’s presenting sponsor L.L. Bean. They are a leading retailer of high-quality outdoor gear and apparel. The company motto, “Be an Outsider” matches perfectly with disc golf. L.L. Bean is one of the biggest name sponsors disc golf has ever seen. We hope to see more companies whose brand identity matches so perfectly to disc golf get involved in the sport!

Buy Tickets

Though some of the more select pass options have sold out, General Admission, Wednesday VIP, and Thursday VIP tickets are still available for purchase. As amazing as live disc golf has become, nothing compares to catching the action in person. Watching (and hearing) Calvin rip one over 500 feet will give you perspective just how unbelievable these athletes are. Every time you watch live after having seen it in person, you will better understand the spectacular throws you see.

Watch Live

Let’s face it… We can’t all get up and drive to Vermont for the week. Luckily for the rest of us, the Disc Golf Network will be airing all five days of competition for both the FPO and MPO live. DGN subscribers will have access to all five rounds. The first round will be available for free on Youtube. Active PDGA members will have access to the final two rounds for free, even without a DGN subscription.

FallFest at Smuggs’

This year’s Worlds will be taking place the same time as FallFest at Smugglers’ Notch, an annual concert series featuring some of the East Coast’s rising talent. Musical acts Soulshine Revival, Al’s Pals, The Dead Tongues, and Rubblebucket will provide your post-tournament tunes to keep the weekend’s fun going late into the night. Fiddlehead Brewing Company is the title sponsor of this year’s festival and will be selling beverages on sight.

Innova at the 2023 PDGA Worlds

Team Innova has favorites in both fields for this year’s World Championships. Calvin Heimburg has proven himself the best player in the MPO all season. Ohn Scoggins has gone 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 1st in the four events leading up to Worlds. Gregg Barsby won the last World Championships held at Smugglers’ Notch. Henna and Eveliina will be back for their first tournament in the US in months. Through a five round event, player’s with Ohn and Calvin’s consistency will have a clear edge. Whether it’s in person or on DGN, get ready for a week of compelling disc golf at the 2023 PDGA World Championships.
