Day Two Update

Team Innova Tops the Leaderboards

The frontrunners in both the United States Disc Golf Championship and the Throw Pink Women’s Disc Golf Championship held onto their leads through the second round. Eveliina Salonen’s 3 under par was far off her -11, course-record-setting first round, but it was still enough to stay atop the leaderboard. Ella Hansen shot the hot round of the day at -10 to jump up 13 spots into 3rd place. In the USDGC, Joel Freeman remains one stroke in the lead over second place and five strokes ahead of the chase card.

After the round, hundreds of spectators returned to hole one for the most anticipated disc golf of the day. An historic and nostalgic nine-hole skins match between Ken Climo, Barry Schultz, Will Schusterick, and Nate Sexton helped us celebrate the Championship’s 25th Anniversary. The band The Tan and Sober Gentlemen could be heard around the lake throughout the round, playing live in the Village at the Fresh and Now festival.

Salonen Dominates Field in Throwing Stats

Eveliina Salonen will go into moving day with the lead at the Throw Pink Women’s Disc Golf Championship. She shot 3 under par in round two which was enough to maintain her two stroke advantage on the field. Eveliina leads the FPO in nearly every throwing statistic. She is 1st in Strokes Gained Tee to Green, Fairway Hits, Birdie percentage, C1 Hits and C2 Hits in Regulation, and Scramble rate.

Birdies for Blomroos

Henna Blomroos sits in 2nd place, two strokes behind her teammate Eveliina. She leads the field in Birdie percentage, is 2nd in Strokes Gained Tee to Green, 2nd in C2 Hits in Regulation, 3rd in C1 Hit in Regulation, and has the 3rd lowest OB rate. Henna took an eagle on Hole 9, placing the 362-foot, obstructed tee shot just feet from the pin. The two best friends, Henna and Eveliina, will return to the lead card together for Round Three.

Mertsch Launches into Top 10

Kat Mertsch shot the 2nd hottest score of the day at -6, rocketing her up the leaderboard into the top 10. She took 3rd place at the Champions Cup earlier this year, proving that she has what it takes to earn podium finishes at top tier events.

Ohn Loves C2

Ohn leads the field in Circle 2 putting so far for the event at 36%. She already has two podium finishes at FPO Major events this season and two wins at Majors in FP40.

Half Way Down the Road to Victory

Joel Freeman is well on his way to a US title. He shot a -9 in round two, one stroke off his hot round from yesterday. That gives Joel a one stroke lead over 2nd place and five strokes over the chase card. He leads the field in C2 Hits in Regulation, is 2nd in Strokes Gained Tee to Green, 3rd in Parked Percentage, and 3rd in Birdie percentage. He has the lowest OB rate in the MPO.

Joel has finished in the top ten of the USDGC for the last three years in a row. Joel has already nearly guaranteed another top 10 this year and has the potential to take home the most sought after title in disc golf.

 B Willy Catches Fire

Bradley Williams was one stroke off the hot round for the day, shooting -10. He is 2nd in the field in Fairway Hits, Strokes Gained C2, and has the 2nd lowest OB in the field.

Bradley has never finished in the top 10 at a USDGC in his long career. This year, he is keeping it center fairway and in bounds, the keys to success at Winthrop. Hopefully this is B Willy’s year for a strong USDGC result.
