Uli gets his first NT win, joins 1100 club
The PDGA National Tour rolled into Columbus, OH this weekend for the Brent Hambrick Memorial Open. Paul Ulibarri shot a blistering 40 in the second round to claim a lead he would not surrender. His second round is currently rated 1107 by the PDGA putting Paul in an elite class of players to card a tournament round rated 1100 or above. Other 1100 Club members include Brian Skinner, Brian Schweberger, Matt Orum, Ken Climo, Barry Schultz, Josh Anthon, and Terry Gallops.

Innova finishes strong at the Dam

Dave Feldberg moved into second during the final nine, a full 9 strokes back of Uli. Teammates Garrett Gurthie, Barry Schultz, Avery Jenkins, and Devan Owens helped round out the field’s top 10.
Valarie Jenkins and Patrick Brown also earned victories in Columbus, with wins in Open Women and Masters. Dr. Rick Voakes also played well, finishing second among a solid Grandmasters field.
Innova would like to offer a sincere “thank you” to the Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club for their many efforts to promote disc golf. In addition to providing a prestigious tour stop year after year, they also continue to support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Brent’s honor. To date the club has generated more than $40,000 in charitable donations.

Markus Kallstrom Victorious in Geneva

Many of Europe’s top disc golf professionals gathered in Geneva, Switzerland for this weekend’s Swiss Open, a PDGA Euro Tour event. Veteran Markus Källström earned the event’s top honor with a two-stroke win over Sylvain Gouge and Innova teammate Simon Lizotte. At age 19, Simon represents the future of European disc golf.

Other Weekend Highlights

Steve Brinster and Craig Cutler went at it during the Shootout at Shore Winds in New York. Brinster scored well from start to finish, carding rated rounds of 1026, 1091, 1073, and 1048.
Will Schusterick was working this weekend at the Volunteer Classic in his home town of Knoxville. Coming in second and making the weekly update for the first time is Fan-Plastic 4 teammate, Ryne Roberts! Georgia boys, Matt Dollar and Dustin Perry also placed in the top five.
In Waco it was an encore performance of the Reading Show, as Jay and Des earned another family sweep. Jay, who often competes as a Master, grabbed the top Open spot. Teammate J.D. Ramirez finished in 5th which was a nice finish as he has battled injuries throughout the season. Des got a Texas-sized win boosting her confidence even further as the touring season heats up.
Chris Lee notched a Masters win at the Horizons Park Classic in Winston Salem, one of the game’s longest running events. Horizons Park opened in 1981 and was the first permanent course in North Carolina.
In Utah, Cory Sharp won the Riverpark Open and it was Aaron Thomas winning the Mosquito Madness down in Savannah, GA.
