Just when you thought Paul McBeth was having a rather lukewarm first half of the season (compared to his white hot 2015), McBeth managed to kick it into that familiar high gear for a come from behind two-stroke victory at the Disc Golf World Tour stop #3, the 2016 European Open in Nokia, Finland. The big overseas win could be just the spark McBeth needs to ignite his season as the tour closes in on the biggest events of the year. Watch complete coverage (in chronological order) of the 2016 European Open in the SpinTV playlist above.

Down five strokes to Ricky Wysocki at the beginning of the third and final round, McBeth dismantled the par-64 Beast Course with a 53 (-11), leaving everyone behind including rival Wysocki, who just a few weeks earlier hit a huge, long-range putt at the end of the Masters Cup to edge past McBeth for the win.

After the first round of the 2016 European Open, not surprisingly, the two competitors found themselves atop the leaderboard tied. That changed as McBeth fell back during the second round, which made some wonder if we’d see McBeth suffer another near miss, something that’s happened with more frequency this season than in years past. But not this time. McBeth rallied on the final day, making birdies on 12 holes, 10 of them in a row.

Others with impressive performances were Innova International team member Karl Johan Nybo who finished tied for third at (-15). Not far behind was another team member, Pasi Koivu at (-11) for fifth.

The two titans of McBeth and Wysocki will clash next at the Beaver State Fling in Oregon (June 10-12). And expect to see them have it out once again in epic proportions at the United States Disc Golf Championship , where both a US title and the Disc Golf World Tour Championship crown will be up for grabs.
