What an encouraging weekend it was for women’s disc golf. More than 1600 ladies around the world took part in the PDGA 2016 Women’s Global Event, shattering the event’s previous attendance record of 1060 from 2014. Innova would like to commend the PDGA Women’s Committee members, each of the individual tournament directors, and all of the competitors who made this year’s WGE memorable for so many people.

We would especially like to congratulate our own Valarie Jenkins, who serves as the PDGA Women’s Committee Chair, on the event’s remarkable success. And not only did Val play an important administrative role, she also finished second place overall in Open Women thanks to a terrific performance at the Daisy Chains Women’s Disc Golf Tournament in Watsonville, CA.

Team Innova had more than 20 sponsored athletes and ambassadors active in the WGE. Val lead the way in second place, but right behind her were US Women’s Champion Hannah Leatherman who finished in third place, followed by Courtney McCoy who finished fourth. Other ladies landing inside the Open Women top 20 were McKayla Thomas (9th), Zoe Andyke (13th), Madison Walker (14th), and Carrie Berlogar (16th).

Charlotte’s Debbie Scott won the Masters Women’s overall title with an average round rating of 929. That average would have earned Debbie an 11th place finish in Open Women. Way to go Deb! Other top team performances in the WGE overall by division include:
Sandy Gast, Senior Grandmasters Women – 1st Place
Lacey Brugler, Junior II Girls – 2nd Place
Alexis Mandujano, Advanced Women – 7th Place
Juliana Korver, Masters Women – 9th Place
